Here I am sharing some of the tips that would help you dry out wet AirTgs:
- Use a soft cloth to gently dry the wet AirTag. Be careful not to move the water deeper into the device.
- To open the AirTag, hold down the silver battery cover and rotate it counterclockwise until it stops.
- Remove the battery, the device itself, and the cover, and leave them to air-dry. You can expedite the process by using silica packs, but avoid using rice, as rice grains might get stuck.
- Allow the AirTag and its components to air dry for several hours.
- Once completely dry, reassemble the AirTag by inserting the battery until you hear a sound. Ensure that the three dots on the cover match the grooves on the AirTag.
- Verify that the AirTag is functioning correctly by opening the Find My app on your iPhone and checking if you can locate it by sound.

The IP Rating of AirTag says it may not be damaged if you put it underwater for around 30 minutes or less. But, I would recommend you should not ever try it and submerge your AirTag into the water. Always be cautious around the water to prevent damage. In case it falls in the water, pick it up quickly and let it dry naturally or follow the tips for drying which I have shared earlier in this article.
Inspect Regularly
Check the condition of your AirTags periodically, especially if they are used in outdoor or rugged settings. Look for any signs of wear or damage.
