7 Tips to Save Money on TV Streaming Subscriptions

Admit it or not, a part of our paycheck every month goes to our monthly streaming service subscription. If you are a movie buff like me, you will find that to satisfy your movie hunger, you must have to get various subscriptions because a single service doesn’t offer all the movies and series that release. Unfortunately, multiple subscriptions are common as every streaming platform offers different. Whether it’s Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, or DISH TV, the costs can quickly add up and hurt our pocket. If I talk about myself, I was subscribed to Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, and a few more. But, if you want to cut some cost on streaming subscriptions, I am going to share some of the ways that you can employ.

So here, we’ll go over some tips to help you save money on TV streaming subscriptions without breaking the bank. Let’s dive in!

7 Best Tips to Save Money on TV Streaming Subscriptions

Prioritize Your Must-Have Subscriptions

We all know we have that one main streaming service we can’t live without. So, if you really want to save money, you must evaluate your streaming preferences and prioritize the subscriptions that provide the majority of the content you love. This way, you’ll get a better idea of which platform to let go and which to keep.

While this first step isn’t easy to do, especially if you’re already used to having multiple subscriptions ready for you anytime, you must do it regardless.

Alternate Your Subscriptions

This is my favorite method to save costs on streaming services. Instead of having multiple subscriptions every month, you can simply subscribe to one platform every month. For example, this month, you’ll get Netflix, next month, you’ll subscribe to Disney Plus, and so on. This is a smart way to watch all the trending movies and TV shows without actually paying for everything all at once.

Let me explain with a real example, months ago, I wanted to watch the Movie Avatar – The Way of Water, and it was on Disney. So, I got a 1-month subscription to watch it, and I watched other movies and series there as well. Next month, I heard that the Manifest series’ last season is coming on Netflix which is my favorite, so next month, I didn’t renew Disney Plus, instead, I subscribed to Netflix.

Moreover, it’s not like you can watch everything from every streaming platform every month, so alternating them every month would be one of your best options.

Look for Streaming Service that Offers On-Demand Content and Live TV Channels

If you have a cable subscription and a streaming service, you have the option to cut the cord but still be able to watch your favorite live TV channels. Cable subscriptions are expensive, and it often comes with long-term contracts. Fortunately, there are now many live TV + on-demand content streaming platforms you can use.

The best ones on our list include DISH TV, Hulu + Live TV, and Sling TV. These are your best options if you want to have on-demand content and live TV access while only having one subscription. This is an easy way to watch all the content you like without having to pay for a lot of services.

Look for Bundle Deals

Some internet and phone service providers offer many bundled packages that include internet + streaming services or mobile plan + streaming services for a more affordable price. It’s best to look into what your current internet or mobile provider is currently offering right now. If you don’t see any bundled service, you can call them to check and see if you qualify for any bundle deals or any deals in general.

Share Subscriptions with Family or Friends

What Netflix did was a total bummer when it comes to sharing accounts with friends or family. As you may have heard, they implemented stricter measures to prevent simultaneous streaming from different locations. However, there are still ways to share subscriptions within the allowed parameters.

Some streaming services offer family plans that allow multiple users to access the account with their own profiles. Take advantage of these options and split the cost with trusted family members or friends. Just make sure to adhere to the terms and conditions set by the streaming platform to avoid any issues.

Consider Ad-Supported Options

Many people enjoy the luxury of having an ad-free streaming experience, but if you’re the type of person who doesn’t mind a few advertisements popping out every now and then while watching a movie, then you should consider downgrading your current plan. Most streaming providers offer this type of plan for a more affordable price, so it can help lighten the cost every month.

One of the most notable streaming service providers that offer this kind of plan is Hulu. The best part about it is that Hulu’s ad-free plan isn’t even that expensive, so imagine the amount you’ll save.

Choose Device Specific Plan

There are price differences in plans due to the quality. The subscription that only allows you to view movies on a Mobile device is of low cost, whereas the full HD plans that you can watch on TV as well are costly. So, you can choose any. But, if you are someone who always watches movies only on your smartphone, then why not take the mobile plan only rather than going for a full HD or 4K plan?

This would save you a considerable amount of money. And, I have been saving money out of this method. In my family, my wife doesn’t like to watch movies a lot, and she watches only on TV. So, I keep a full subscription to one streaming platform, and If I have to take some additional services, I subscribe to their mobile plans as I generally watch movies on my smartphone.

The Bottom Line

You don’t have to sacrifice your favorite content just to save money. With these simple steps, you’ll still be able to watch your favorite movies and TV shows while keeping your budget in check. So, make sure to keep these tips in mind and share them with your friends so you can save altogether. Happy streaming and happy saving!
