1. Choose Your Starter Champion Wisely
When League of Legends was first launched, it had only 40 champions, but with the development and introduction of further champions, the roster has grown to 150. When players first start out however, there are only 8 “starter champions” to play with. Making the right decision about your starter champion is very important to start your LOL game with solid foundations.
The starter champions currently available to players are Aatrox, AsheGaren, Graves, Jinx, Katarina, Kha’Zix, Lux, Riven and Ryze. Each champion has their own strengths and weaknesses and the best choice to help you succeed depends on your personal playing style. For beginner players, AsheGaren and Lux are generally considered to be the easiest starter champions to play with.

3. Learn Every Inch of the Maps
All top LOL players know that the map can be your best friend or your worst enemy. League of Legends has four maps; ‘Summoner’s Rift’, ‘Twisted Treeline’, ‘The Proving Ground’ and ‘The Crystal Scar’. Each of the maps provides its own set of geographical features, resources and challenges and the gameplay varies from map to map. In order to dominate all the LOL competition it is vital that you get to know every inch of each of the maps in order to use them to your advantage.
‘Summoner’s Rift’ is the LOL map and is still the most commonly played. It features three lanes each with three enemy turrets which must be destroyed before a final two turrets must be destroyed in the enemy Nexus. There is a jungle on both sides of the game where players can fight monsters for experience and gold. ‘Twisted Treeline’ is a two lane map which results in faster skirmish gameplay. This is a great map for honing your “bruiser” skills as it is non-stop action. ‘Twisted Treeline’ also incorporates a jungle with multiple monster camps to fight for gold and experience.
‘The Proving Grounds’ is a single lane map which is only available to players in custom games and is an all random all mid-challenge. The final map is ‘The Crystal Scar’ which is a 5 versus 5 capture and hold game in which the two opposing teams take part in multiple skirmishes in order to destroy the other team’s Nexus.
