Search Google or Type a URL! Which One You Use?

Google, despite today’s world of AI and the talks of SearchGPT from OpenAI, is still the trusted source that we often go to when we are looking for any information. It is known to be getting as many as 99000 searches per second. That definitely means people still trust Google when it comes to finding the right information.

But, when it comes to searching for the best info on Google, there are two options you can rely upon – Search Google or Type a URL. Which among them is better? That may appear to be an easy choice. But, when you actually move ahead to make a choice between them, at times, it can get really confusing.

What is Search Google or Type a URL?

Search Google or type a URL are the two words you find on the address bar on Google. This is actually called the Omnibox feature. You would see this when you open Google Search and are about to type a word in the search box.

You may also see other variations of the words or may see a search box. But, it all means the same. The Omnibox feature is an option that lets you search for the internet. But, what is the best way to use Google for finding information? Search Google or type a URL. In fact, both of them offer you similar functionality. You can either search Google or enter a URL to find the relevant information that you may be looking forward to.  Simply, if you search a query, you will see Google Search Page with result, but if you enter an URL, it will directly open the URL, and you won’t go to search page.

Let us check out the two methods and find out how they work.

The Search Google option

The primary purpose of search engines is to provide the required information at the click of a button. In today’s touchscreen world, this also may mean providing info at the tap on the screen. You can practically do everything on the search engine, from websites to pictures to videos to every other content.

One of the ways you can do this is by entering a keyword or name in the search box. This option is useful when you are not aware of a specific website URL. If you know the website name but do not have an idea of the structure of the website name. You can simply type the name of the website and you will see the URL of the website on Search Result.

The option is also useful when you are not looking for a specific website, but want to know about something from any website available on the internet. In such cases, you will just enter the keyword for the information you are searching for.

Searching on Google can be very time-consuming and will need you to look at two or more websites. This can also provide you with more information than the one provided by a single site.

Using Type a URL feature

The Type a URL feature is very simple. This is helpful when you are looking to visit a single website. You can simply type the website URL and the search engine will instantly open the website for you.

This is the quickest option to access any website right away instead of having to search for it. This will save you a lot of time. However, this feature will be useful only when you know the entire website URL. Any wrong URL structure will lead you to the wrong website (if the site exists), or the search engine will return an error.

Search Google or Type a URL: Which Option Is Better?

It cannot be stated which among Search Google or Type a URL is better. Both options are typically used for different purposes. It will ideally depend on the exact information that you are looking for.

If you are looking for an answer to a question, you will use the search Google feature. This method will help you find the right information as it searches through every possible website (that is available in its index) for the relevant information. Google will then provide you with links to the websites that provide the right information.

However, when you are looking to visit a particular website, you will need to enter the URL in the search box. Doing this will directly take you to the website instead of providing you with multiple search results called Blue links).

Honestly, both Search Google and Type a URL features have their own advantages and disadvantages. In fact, both these methods are used for different purposes. If you want to visit a particular site, you will use the Type a URL feature and when looking for information without the need for any particular website, you will be better off using the Search Google option.

How to Search For a Website on Google?

There may be times when you are looking to find specific information on a specific website. Imagine you want to search only a particular website for articles on one particular topic. There is an option that combines both Search Google and Type a URL features.

You will use the keyword site: website URL for your query. For instance, imagine you are searching for Snapchat-related articles on this site. You will need to use the search query site:techtricksworld.com snapchat.
