ePayLater on Uber – How to Set up and Use?

The cab hiring service in India is relatively quite new. When it comes to these services in India, Uber is one of the powerful options and has been taking over the locally grown business in the same genre, Ola in a frenzied passion. However, one of the huge issues you would come across while opting for the Uber cab service is the lack of Pay Later option. However, this issue is now just a click away from getting resolved.

Uber has now partnered with the new fintech startup – ePayLater. You will now be able to book your Uber rides and opt for the pay later option. Of course, Uber has a wallet or other payment options like credit cards or online payments; the pay later option should be what should work towards achieving the ease and simplicity of planning and completing your rides.

How to setup ePayLater for your Uber rides?

Well, ePayLater is an excellent option that would assist you in opting for the services and paying for them later. The startup has partnered with multiple brands and operators and offers you the pay later services across multiple categories.

The company recently partnered with the cab hailing service, Uber, and has made it easy for the Uber users to avail the services and pay for their rides later.

Here is how you can do it:

Setup your ePayLater account

Follow the simple steps as in the following tutorial –

  • Download and install ePayLater app on your phone. You should find it from Google Play Store.
  • Provide your details including your phone number and email address.
  • You will also need to provide your PAN details
  • Once you are successfully registered on the service, you should get a credit limit.

Setup ePayLater as your preferred Payment option on Uber

We would assume that you have already downloaded the Uber app and configured your account. Follow the steps here to configure your Uber app to make use of ePayLater as your preferred payment alternative.

  • Launch the Uber app on your phone
  • Choose the Payment option.

  • Tap on Add Payment Method
  • Next, choose the option for UPI.
  • Now, tap on Link existing payment address
  • Now, enter uber-epaylater.epl@idfcbank and click on Save.

You will now need to validate the new payment method. Tap on Continue. This will charge your UPI account with Rs. 1

That should do it. Your ePayLater account will be added to the Uber app.

Whenever you choose the Uber cab hailing service, you can choose the option of your ePayLater UPI address as the payment option. All your Uber app expenses will be shown in your ePayLater app as the outstanding payment. You can pay the amount to ePayLater in the next 14 days without incurring any interest charges.

What makes ePayLater option preferred one?

The pay later option offered by ePayLater should make it one of the easiest options for paying off your dues on your Uber account. The procedure to add the ePayLater functionality on your Uber app is fairly easy.

What should make it a formidable option is that you no longer need to wait for the transaction to be completed through credit cards or other payment options. Of course, Uber offers you several payment options like credit or debit cards, net banking, or even cash payments. However, having to enter the credit card details and waiting for the OTP to arrive can get on your nerves. In fact, in one of our journeys, we waited endlessly for the OTP to arrive and finally made the payment in cash, only to find that the OTP arrived exactly when we completed the payment and proceeded with our journey!

Another similar issue we used to face was the continuous need to recharge your PayTM or other supported wallets. If you forget to recharge your wallet account and end up realising it exactly when you are about to make the payment for your ride. Isn’t the pay later option a blessing in disguise in such situations?

Anything else you need to take care of? Well, yes, there are a few points that may need attention –

  • The UPI option may or may not be available for every Uber account. Check if the option is available for you. If not, you may need to wait till it is rolled out for your profile or get in touch with the Uber customer care.
  • Make sure you have completed the registration on ePayLater and enabled the UPI transaction.
  • Do note that you need to have the same mobile number registered both on Uber and ePayLater for the service to work.

What makes ePayLater a great option?

Well, Uber has been able to introduce the India specific options in its cab-hailing service. That is perhaps what made it one of the most popular services in India. In fact, the service still lacks a few of the features that Indian users would love to find implemented.

The pay later option is just one of them. In fact, several services like Swiggy, Zomato, and Pizza delivery services have added functionality in their apps. In fact, online shopping services like Flipkart have also started pay later services. Now that Uber does not offer the service from within its app, the partnership with ePayLater should indeed be an excellent option.

In fact, the pay later option has more to do with the convenience that it offers you. This can be useful in those situations where you tend to use a particular service much frequently. You would be able to use the pay later option whenever you take a ride and opt for paying up the charges later from the comfort of your home.

So, have you ever used the ePayLater service for your Uber rides? How was your experience? Do share your experiences with us. Do also share your inputs on what you liked the most with respect to your ease of payment.
