For time and being power has been considered to be an attribute of men. But now some women have come forward with an initiative to prove it wrong. 1. Angela Merkel


She is the Chancellor of Germany. Holding the position in the land of Hitler since 2005, she is responsible for major reforms in the management of the country. She is the first lady who became the chancellor of Germany.

2. Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton

She is the secretary of state of the US and is Barack Obama’s counterpart in the democratic party. She succeeded Condozella Rice in 2009 and has been serving at the position since. Hillary was also the First Lady of US when her husband Bill Clinton was president.

3. Dilma Rousseff

Dilma Rouseff

She is the president of the republic of Brazil. She has been on this position since January 2011. This women is more known for her struggle than her position as she was a part of the group which fought against the military dictatorship of the country.

4. Melinda Gates


She is the wife of Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest person and is also the cofounder of Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. She was initially a part of her husband’s business ventures and served as a project manager in the organization. Anyhow, she left that job and turned into a full time social worker in the form of the head of the B and M foundation.


5. Jill Abramson

She is the Executive Director of The New York Times news which is one of the most important newspaper in the world. She took over the position in 2011 to become the first women editor of this newspaper in its 160 year history.


6. Sonia Gandhi

Sonia Gandhi

She is the president of Indian National Congress the lead ruling party in India. Although her party is defamed across country, still her worth hasn’t reduced at all. Sonia Gandhi basically inherited her post from her husband. However she has vowed never to become the prime minister.

7. Michelle Obama


She is the wife of US president Barack Obama. Born at 17th January 1964 at Chicago, she has attended both the prestigious institutions of Princeton and Harvard. Michelle took over the position of Julia bush after her husband became the president.

8. Christine Lagarde

Christine Lagarde

She is the Managing Director of International Monetary Fund. Professionally, she is a French lawyer. Anyhow she more well known for her role as a politician for a Union for a Popular Movement. Her power becomes obvious from the fact that Dominique Strauss Kahn was replaced by her. Lagarde even served as the Finance, Agriculture and Commerce and Industry minister in France from time to time.


9. Janet Napolitano

Janet Napolitano

Janet is the first ever woman to be the secretary of Homeland security in the US. Politically speaking, she is the 21st Governor of Arizona. Born at 29th November 1957 in New York, she completed her graduation from Santa Carla University and post graduation from University of Virginia.


10. Sherly Kara Sandberg

Sherly Kara Sandberg

She is an American businesswoman and currently serves as the Chief Operating officer of Facebook.com. Sandberg has been on this position since 2008. As the first women board member in Facebook, she handles sales and operations arm. Along with it, Sheryl started a philanthropic effort with Google.org.
