Marissa Mayer – Woman Who is Ruling the Business Arena

Early Life:

Marissa Mayer is known to be born in Waucau, Wisconsin on May 30th, 1975. Furthermore, Mayer is known to have experienced a very regular childhood. She has been heard quoting on a number of different occasions about how her early days were spent in Waucau by simply engaging in some or the other interesting activities like any other normal kids around that mainly included ice skating, ballet classes, debate team competitions and let us not forget the happy brownie times.

As far as Marissa’s educational background is concerned she is known to have completed her entire education from the Stanford University. To be more specific Mayer is known to hold two prestigious degrees namely a B.S in symbolic systems coupled with an M.S in computer science. Her area of specialization is known to particularly lie towards the artificial intelligence block. Yet another feather in Mayer’s hat, is the doctorate degree that has been bestowed upon her in the year 2009 by the Illionois Institute of Technology. One glance through Marissa’s academic achievements and we can easily conclude that she has gone a long way in acquiring some fantastic degrees, which definitely have a major contribution towards the success and fame that she has earned of late.

Professional Achievements:

All you individuals who are well read and so also have a decent understanding of the business world, must be well aware of the fact that Marissa Mayer had begun her professional career with Google. This goes back to the year 1999. If we were to go by the statistics, then in that case we can simply state that Mayer is known to be the 20th employee recruited by Google. Yet another aspect that happened to distinguish Marissa from her fellow employees was the fact that she was the first female engineer to have joined Google.

During her work span with Google, Marissa Mayer is known to have got the opportunity to work on a wide range of high standard and first rate products associated with Google that mainly included Google Maps, Google Earth, Gmail, Google News and Street View among others. On an overall level, Mayer was particularly recognized for the efforts that she had put in, in order to bring out better than the best designs. After having spent almost a decade with Google, Marissa Mayer happened to switch to Yahoo in the year 2012. She was hired as the next President and CEO of Yahoo on July 16th, 2012. If we were to go by the sources then, in that case we can easily come to the conclusion that the main reason behind Mayer being preferred by Yahoo was to help this particular entity in improving its revenue level and at the same time regaining its previous position. However, even after continuous efforts, Mayer has not been successful in raising the revenue level of this particular company. On the other hand, we cannot totally criticize her mainly because she has had some contribution towards raising the profit level of this particular entity.

Accolades:

During her successful tenure with Google followed with her extensive efforts to revive Yahoo,Mayer is known to have earned a number of rewards and recognition on different platforms. However, out of all the accolades that she has attained till date, one achievement that tends to top the list is Marissa Mayer being ranked 32nd in the Forbes list of 100 most powerful women in the world.

All said and done, we can simply give hats off to this lady for having rightly balanced her personal and professional lives and for being able to have a rewarding professional career that sets just the right example in front of the coming generations.
