How to Introduce Your Business on Instagram?

This blog post is going to be on how to introduce your business on Instagram but before that let’s get to know why your business should be introduced on Instagram.

Why Should You Introduce Business on Instagram?

With somewhere around 500 million active users, Instagram is the best social media app where you should introduce and promote your business. According to Instagram, there are 25 million business profiles are there on Instagram, and more than 2 million advertisers share their stories to drive business.

Why instagram

As per Business Insider, till June 2016, Brand engagement on Instagram was 84% more than Twitter, and 10% more than Facebook. These stats show how great Instagram is for your business. But, as Instagram doesn’t allow links, it is tough to drive traffic to your business website. However, it is good to display more about your business and products, and even you can post more about office events, and all to engage more with the audience.

As per an infographic by Buzzoid, people remember 80% of what they see as compared to 20% what they read and 10% of what they hear, it is clear that posting visual contents has more impact on the audience, and that is where Instagram is useful as it allows you to post visual contents, you can put in your creativity to design beautiful, and self-speaking visuals to engage with your audience in much creative way.

Looking at the above stats, and all, it is quite clear that Instagram is the best place to promote your business.

Thus, in this blog post, we are going to talk about how to introduce your business on Instagram.

How to Introduce Your Business on Instagram?

  1. Get a Business Account On Instagram

Looking at the popularity of Instagram, you must be having a personal account on it. But, when it comes to business, I would advise you to get a business account on Instagram because you get more features and insights that help in business.

How to Set up a business profile on Instagram?

First of all, you need to sign up for a personal account or if you are already having one, then you need to turn your personal Instagram account to business account, and below are the steps:

  • In the Instagram app, open your profile page, and click the three vertical lines
  • Then click on “Setting”.
  • Now, click “Account

  • Now, click the “Switch to Professional Account” button.

This will ask you what describes you, then choose Business, and then do as per further on-screen instructions.

  • Add all the information that you are asked to fill, and you are all set.

Now, you have a business profile on Instagram which has access to more business features and insights.

  1. Add a Logo of Your Business

Business needs a logo that can express a lot about your business. However, only a logo cannot speak everything but it is can be the thing that people remember. So, have a memorable logo for your business, and add it in your Instagram business account’s display photo.

This way, your audience will remember your business through the logo. That is the best and foremost thing you need to do when you are introducing business on Instagram.

  1. Add an Attractive Bio

On Instagram, Bio is the most important part where you can add about your business. Since you cannot add a lot of content there, you have to be very creative and precise to tell a lot in a few words.

Also, in the bio section only, you get an option to add your website link. So, don’t forget to add your business website link there because apart from that, you cannot hyperlink anywhere as Instagram doesn’t allow hyperlinks in the posts.

If your business needs to get calls from clients or other people, you must add a phone number there as well.

You should add CTA(Call-to-action) there for the people seeing your bio so that they can take action accordingly. For example, if you have a digital marketing business, and if someone wants the service, he will try to contact you when he finds your Instagram account, and if you are having your landing page or phone number added there, he can easily contact you. Just be sure to write a bio that grabs attention, and speak more.

I really like the bio that Canva added on its Instagram. It is simple, precise, and straightforward.

  1. Plan your content

Now, as you are done with setting up the account, it is the time you start posting content on your Instagram profile. You need to plan the content because you want to introduce and promote your business there, you have to be very clever and creative in order to create the posts. Since Instagram is more about pictures, you need to create pictures that speak.

Moreover, you have to think more about the people who are going to see the posts you are going to publish. Thus, you have to know the audience who will see, and for that, you need to know the Instagram demographics which gives you ideas about what type of audience you are likely to get on your posts.

After analyzing the demographics, target the audiences who may be interested in the business you are promoting. And, then create interesting images that put an impact when someone sees them. Though you can add text with images, I would advise you to add the tag line within the image itself to get noticed on the first glance.

  1. Make Use of Hashtags

Hashtags are actually the topics on which when you click, all the posts tagged with a particular hashtag will be shown. So, get to know what Hashtags your targeted audiences are clicking/tapping, and add those Hashtags in your Instagram posts to join the topic. Thus, when someone opens those hashtags, your posts will be in those lists too. It is the best way to widen reach on Instagram.

For example, if you have a digital marketing business, the popular hashtags should be like #digitalmarketing, #digitalmarketingservices, etc. When you include these in your posts, your posts are displayed when someone visits these Hashtags. Here is an example, in which you can see how HubSpot has used the hashtags.

  1. Post Consistently

“Consistency is the key”.  You must have read this line everywhere because it fits for almost all businesses. You have to very consistent in posting on your Instagram business profile at the selected timings. Keep in mind to post at regular time interval consistently. Don’t post too much because it will annoy people.

  1. Engage with Your Followers

It is your duty to respond to comments, and DMs you get from your followers. If someone comments on your profile, he deserves a reply from you. This way, you can engage better with your followers, and this is the way, you build relationships which further benefits your business.

  1. Share Inside Stories to Connect with Your Followers Better

On your Instagram business account, always share the success stories and even about the business events in a creative way. This helps you connect with your followers in a much better way. Better connection leads to better relationships, and better relationships turn out to be very helpful for your business.

Not only inside stories but if some events you find relates to your business, do share about it on your Instagram profile as well with the best Hashtags to reach out to more people.

  1. Stay in Search of New Customers and Partners

One of the best ways to reach out to other brands for partnership or making them your customers is by reaching out to them via Direct Messages. Moreover, you should show some activities on their posts as well. Everyone is reachable on Instagram, you just need to write a message and send. Then you continue your talks and build better relationships.

  1. Track Your Business Growth on Instagram

Since you are using Instagram Business account, you have access to many features, and that help you track your growth. There, you can analyze the growth and other things, and take actions accordingly to improve further to grow more.

Conclusion

Instagram is one of the most popular and the best social media apps where you can promote your business and get the best results. You have to be very creative when you are introducing and promoting your business on Instagram as you have to talk visually rather than textually. Yes, the better images you post, the better results you get. Make sure that your images speak more than words.

  • Hello Atish,

I have recently started using Instagram and really like its features and use for business. This post really comes handy and help me to understand more about Instagram and how to use it for my business. Brilliant and helpful tips.

  • Hi Atish,

    Such great advice!

Instagram is a powerful platform and I’ve barely used it.

I’m thinking of doing it for one of my niche topics.

Does “going pro” cost, and how does it affect your paid advertising?

Also, you say to post regularly, but not too often.

So what is a good posting frequency?

I really enjoyed all you shared here, and thank you for your insights into Instagram.

    -Donna

    • Hello Donna,

      Glad to see you here.

Instagram is indeed a powerful platform for businesses. About switching to professional/business account is free. However, advertising on Instagram is paid.

When we talk about frequency, it depends upon your business as well. Moreover, I think, generally, 2 posts a day is quite great. However, if you have a lot more to share every day, and your business demands that you can post 3-4 a day as well. Moreover, personally, if I have to introduce and promote my business on Instagram, I would post only 1-2 a day but I will make sure that it has attention-grabbing quality.

      Thank you.

  • HI Artish, I have a question: I read that it is good to have a personal and a business Instagram account. I’m not sure how to do that and if others would agree with that statement.
I switched over 2 years ago and love the info we get as a business account.
I think Instagram stories also make a huge difference on Instagram today, they have become HOT!

    • Hey Lisa,

Thanks for coming by. Switching to a professional account is easy as you have read in the guide. Moreover, the Instagram stories do well too.

      Thanks for coming by.

  • Thank you so much for this insight! I have only recently invested my energy into a Business Instagram and quite honestly I was at a loss where to begin. I find it hard to get people in my niche to stumble across my page. I should definitely start thinking about whether I am using the hashtag feature effectively, as that is always something I struggle with, there are so many variations. It is so clear that social media such as Instagram is such a powerful tool for businesses, now I just need to figure out how to become a pro like you. Thank you for all your advice on this great post, I will definitely be putting it into practice very soon!

  • Hi Atish,
This is interesting, I did not know about the business account.
As Instagram is a great platform and I like to post images and videos.
I will look into it. Good that we can post also from Facebook now. The only thing that I do not like is, the links when promoting different things has to be changed. But I think I saw for this there is also a solution now. Which I have to find out.
Thank you for this informative post.
    Erika

    • Hello Erika Ma’m,

You are right about the links which they don’t offer in the posts but there is a solid reason of not offering it because if they do, Instagram will be spammed a lot with the links. I think that is why they only keep one link in Bio.

Instagram is best for building your authority and brand.

      Thank you for coming by.

  • It is a comprehensive and complete guide to introduce your business on Instagram. In this modern age where social media is playing vital role in advertising and marketing of business, everyone should follow this guide to list business on Instagram. Thank you.
