How long have you been using Facebook? 1 year? 2 year? 5 years? And during this time spent on Facebook how many times have you uploaded a photo of you and your friends? How many comments you received when you updated your Facebook wall with your engagement news? And how many likes you got?
Do you remember all this activity? Do you know how many Groups you have joined? And how many fan pages you have liked? The collective answer to all these questions is a clear “NO”. You don’t remember all these activities. But Facebook does. Facebook remembers every thing.
Even if you delete your personal data, Facebook will retain archived copies of your data you can read about it here.
To download your personal data follow the following steps. I have provided with images where ever necessary.
Select the Accounts Settings option from the top right side of your screen as seen in the image below.
After you select Account settings you must select General Settings.
From the General Settings select the Download a copy of your facebook data option.
After you select the “Download a copy of your facebook data” option you will get a “Request my Download” option. It takes a few hours to organize your photos, messages and other information so wait patiently and Click on “Start my Archive”
Once the Archive is ready you will get an e-mail with the download link.
Congratulations you are half done. See the next screen shot.
Not yet finished once you select the Start my Archive option you will be seeing a pending message.
The download size varies from user to user my download size was 24 MB (Wow 24 is my lucky number!). During this FB will ask you to type your password and then you will be able to download your Facebook data easily.
Keep your facebook data safe as it contains all your data. It contains what ever you have updated and what ever you have uploaded, all the photos, videos. Also it is the policy of Facebook to save the archived copies of your data. They use all your likes and dislikes to make marketers aware of what you like and what not and ads are shown relevant to your data. Never update important information on FB as it can never be deleted.
So this article was about how to download your copy of Facebook Data. I think it was useful to you. If not then do share your views in the comments section.
