“Ethernet Doesn’t Have A Valid Ip Configuration” Error in Windows! {Fixes }

Are you a Windows 10 user? Do you face a problem with the ethernet when it doesn’t have a valid IP configuration? I can only imagine how frustrating it might become for you.

The IP address is the identity of a device on the network. There are different types of IP addresses for each network. However, many times, an error report saying “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP arrangement” might pop up. This means that your Ethernet connection no longer has a strong IP configuration, and the Windows working system fails to get the necessary IP address from the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

This error is usually caused by incorrect and wrong network adapter drivers or an unreliable network arrangement. To fix this error, you may require to do certain things to rectify these errors.

In this guide, I present possible solutions with explanations and screenshots.

Fix No. 1: Restart Your Computer and Router/Modem

I suggest that you start with the most straightforward and simple solution that usually helps fix the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” fault. Save all raw work and then shut down the Windows running system. Additionally, unplug your modem (or router) from the power plug and leave it unplugged for several minutes. Then plug the device terminal in and wait until it completes the startup (self-test) method. Turn on the processor and see if the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” fault is settled.

Fix No. 2: Reset TCP/IP

This process includes opening and performing “netsh” leads into Command Prompt. Netsh is a command-line scripting service that allows you to, either regionally or remotely, arrange or adjust the interface configuration of a working computer. Netsh also implements a scripting characteristic that will enable you to run a collection of commands in a batch form on a designated computer.

The commands need an upgraded Command Prompt started with administrator rights. To begin the raised Command Prompt –

  1. Type “command prompt” in Search Section and then click on the “Command Prompt” problem.
  2. Prefer “Run as administrator” to work it with official privileges.
  3. When you choose “Run as administrator’’, a User Account Control prompt will emerge, questioning if you allow the Command Prompt to create modifications to your computer. Click “Yes.”

Elevated Command Prompt will emerge. In the Command Prompt window, Type these commands:

  1.   netsh Winsock reset
  2.   netsh int IP reset

Command Prompt will display a message declaring that you must restart the computer to perform the reset after completing the first command – neglect it and execute both commands by touching Enter following each. Restart the processor and see if the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” glitch is now settled.

Fix NO. 3: Clear Network Cache

This method involves opening and performing “ipconfig” leads into Command Prompt. Ipconfig is a command-line tool that represents the modern configuration of the installed IP stack on a networked computer. We can clean and reset the DNS customer resolver cache contents and restore the DHCP configuration by adopting this medium.

Open Command Prompt as manager, type the instructions below, and press Enter following each:

  1.   ipconfig /release
  2.   ipconfig /flushdns
  3.   ipconfig /renew

If all three commands are performed, restart the processor and see if this executes the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” fault.

Fix No. 4: Configure TCP/IP Settings Manually

If resetting TCP/IP and cleaning the network cache does not resolve the query, try to configure TCP/IP contexts manually.

  1. Open the Run dialog box by clicking the Start button and choosing “Run” from the contextual list or by touching Windows key + R.
  2.  In the open Run dialog box, type the “ncpa. CPL” request and press Enter on the keyboard or agree “OK.” This will start the Network Connections window.
  3. In the Network Connections window, you should see all possible links. Find the Ethernet connection, right-click it, and following select “Properties” of the contextual menu.
  4. In Ethernet Properties, see for “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” or “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)”, depending on which item you are using. Choose (highlight) it and match “Properties.”

  5. If there is a configured inactive IP address, you are helpless to attach to the Internet. You get “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” while using it, try to change to the “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Get DNS server address automatically” benefits, and next click “OK.”

Suppose specific options were set by default and have not made any configurations. In this case, you can try to access the latent IP address details, such as IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, the chosen and other DNS server. You can utilize our screenshot as a model. Click “OK” and restart the network to see if this solution fixes the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” fault.

Fix No. 5: Reinstall Or Update Network Adapter Driver

A device driver notifies the running system and additional software on how to communicate with appropriate hardware. It is somewhat like a translator among software and hardware as they often are built by different businesses, companies, or personalities. The driver helps smooth interaction among hardware and software. In most cases, computers are incapable of sending and receiving data accurately without drivers. If the proper driver is not installed, the device might not work correctly. To reinstall a system adapter driver, use Device Manager.

  1. To open Device Manager, right-click the Start key and choose the “Device Manager” result from the contextual menu, or type “device manager” in Search and agree to the “Device Manager” result.

  2. In Device Manager, you will notice a list of things connected to your computer. Find “Network adapters,” open it, and right-click on the networking tool. Accept “Uninstall” of the drop-down menu.

  3. You will be requested to verify the uninstallation. Click “OK.” Mark the “Delete the driver software for this tool” checkbox if you see this choice.
  4. You will require to restart your PC for the modifications to take effect. Restart your computer and see if this made the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration.”

If for any reason Windows effects do not fix the missing (uninstalled) drivers, then move to Device Manager and right-click your computer title, choose “Scan for hardware changes.” It should identify missing drivers and fix them.

To renew network adapter drivers, follow the corresponding steps and take the “Update driver” from the contextual menu choice when right-clicked on the network adapter device.

You will be questioned if you want to automatically explore the updated driver software or survey your computer for driver software. Windows will examine your computer and the Internet for the most advanced driver software for your device if you choose the first option. If you prefer the second option, you must find and install the drivers manually. Using this opportunity requires having earlier downloaded the driver on your computer or USB flash drive. We advise that you select the first option and then follow the directions. If the first choice does not resolve the query, download the most advanced network adapter drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

You can also handle third-party software to renew drivers automatically. In this case, we suggest the Snappy Driver Installer (SDI), a great free driver updater device for Windows that can store its complete set of drivers offline. Having offline drivers gives Snappy Driver Installer the capacity to reach fast driver updates, even if there is no working Internet connection on your machine. The snappy driver goes with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista and works with Windows XP.

Drivers are downloaded by Snappy Driver Installer in ‘driver packs, which are just samples (groups) of drivers for various hardware such as sound devices, video cards, interface adapters, etc. It can likewise show duplicate drivers and wrong drivers. It departs the updates that need you to restart your computer to be more comfortable to distinguish.

We believe that these difficulties were able to help you get rid of the “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration” fault. If our ways still don’t do the deal, talk to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) if there are some problems on their head.
