Does Blogging Reduce Stress?

Competition in every business is so tough these days, that it’s easy to see how stress can become a serious issue. Heavy competition and heavy work loads lead to pressure on your mind, causing Stress and as most of us know, according to medical research too much Stress can be dangerous for your health.

So what you need to think about is how to reduce stress from your mind, in order to stay fit & healthy forever. Of course there are several things you can do to overcome stress, such as taking a break from your busy work schedule, going travelling (in the hills or your native village), eating an awful lot of tablets (– not recommended!) etc.

But the problem comes when you want to take a break but your work pressures and business commitments don’t let you. As taking lots of tablets can have several (unwanted) side effects, how can you get rid of stress under these circumstances?

I probably have an answer which could be very helpful. Yes, I have a better remedy for such condition. Are you wondering how can I suggest a remedy even though I am not a doctor?

Well don’t worry I am not going to suggest any medical prescriptions or extended holiday plans. I am going to recommend something which can be done from the comfort of your own home. Still wondering about what I am going to suggest?

Fine, suspense is over now!. The remedy I am talking about is nothing but Blogging. Yes you heard right, blogging is a proven way to reduce your stress at your comfort. I can say this because it is working for me since long.

Stress free zone : Blogging

You must have felt whenever you are worried, tensed or stressed you need someone who can listen to you. If no one is there then the situation can be worse. It happened with me so many times and I love to share my thoughts with someone who can patiently listen to me but it’s hard to get someone every time. Hence I would suggest whatever you feel while you are stressed by something just write down as a blog post, publish it and ask suggestions from your readers via comment.

However, If you don’t want to share your problems publicly then don’t do it but still I would say just start writing something. It can be your past memories, your experience about life or anything. Publish it on your blog and when you get responses and appreciations from your readers believe me all of your stress will fly into air.

Even I am not blogging about my personal problems and stresses; I found Blogging is the best way to reduce my stress quickly and comfortably. Sometimes I return from office in a bad mood because of argument with boss or team members but as soon as I start the blogging stuffs like reading, commenting or writing a blog post I forget all of those things which just had happened few hours ago at office.

Apart from this, I have some serious health issues and hence according to people I am supposed to be stressed about that and even a number of people asked me many times how can you be so tension free? You don’t have any fear in mind because of your health issues?
I just ignore these questions as If I start thinking on these I will be stressed for sure. But being a human I can feel it sometimes but as I sit to do my blogging stuffs I forget all in minutes. All I think is what should I write now on my blog?

Apart from my experiences I would like to mention the latest experience of my friend Zainil. He is suffering from a wound in his leg which doesn’t let him sit for long but as soon as he sits to do the daily blogging stuffs he automatically forgets about the wound and pain.

Hence I can say that its working for me and even for my friend cum blogging partner Zainil. I cannot say that it will surely work for your but I would like to suggest to give it a try.

Are you one of them who is getting relief from Stress with the help of Blogging? Share your experience with us via comment.

  • I think blogging does not reduce our problem at all. it only divert our attention for the the time being.

      • Blogging can be liken to a pain and stress removal from our body, but at times, it can be liken to a stressful act as well.

In my own case, when I have too many things to do with little time; writing for all my websites, commenting on other reliable websites, guest posting and replying over hundred emails at the same time, I can say blogging add more to my stress 🙂

Thanks Atish for your post but I’d be glad to know if you agree with my comment

        • I agree with you Olawale but I would again say that I am talking about blogging as hobby. If you take it as a hobby it will surely reduce your stress but if you do it as business then I don’t think it can help much. Because it will be a full time business.

    • Yes you are right whenever you complete an article you can feel pleasure of achieving something. Thanks for your comment.

  • On the contrary, its gives me a lot of stress. I get all stressed over when it comes to writing the next blog post. But it does give a lot of relief when its published and start getting some comments.

    • This because now days everyone is taking blogging as business. But here I have discussed it as hobby. If you will do it as hobby then you might not get stressed for writing a next post. Thanks for your comment Shalu.

  • I’d have to agree with Rakesh here. Blogging is a great exercise to steer your mind away from the daily grind and explore other avenues which interest you on a personal level. It is good to see Zainil can escape the leg pain through blogging.

  • Yes, it does. It acts as a time passer as well as a stress reducer for me. Since I’m too much busy with my studies these days, I’ve arranged some permanent authors for my tech blog. But I do write during weekends, it’s just like an addiction :).

  • Thanks for sharing your experience and idea Atish! I agree with your suggestion, coz am doing the same. Yes, if no one is there to share our ideas and feelings then it becomes hard and finally lead to stress. If stress is involved in health, it would lead to dangerous health issues in the near future. I too hope that Blogging is a good remedy to beat the stress! Very helpful article, please keep writing.

  • Nice information about blogging .With blogging you can blog about anything Actually blogging self exposing to some good things By doing that you are releasing some stress and problem shared is problem solved because people will give you advice on how to go about it.

  • HI Atish

Yes It gives a stress free moments because focus shifts to writing, but once the post is publised the stress factors pour in.

  • When you have options to say that thing which you want to share with many people then blogging is the best option to reduce your stress.

  • You are absolutely right Atish. Blogging as hobby can reduce the stress simply but if you consider it as a business then it cannot work like that. however blogging is a nice remedy for stress free life.

  • Writing down your thoughts ia an effective way to destress yourself. And blogging does help us wtite down and share what we feel. The comments are an added bonus and it feels great to interact with others on your favourite topic.

  • Blogging is such a nice thing to do.It is the best way to share your thought with others. Also it is the best way to interact with people of different opinion. It is really very interesting and whatever you have described in this article is definitely true.

  • This is really a nice post as blogging proved to be a stress buster for huge number of people. Good to know that this is working for you too and even working for Zainil. Get well Soon Zainil.

  • simply nice post. I loved to know your personal experiences about blogging and about its benefit. Blogging is indeed a great time pass which can relax your mind when you are in a bad mood as you have mentioned.

  • I loved the way you have explained about the blogging benefits for health, You have shared your personal experiences here which is quite good to understand. I am glad to know that blogging is working for you as a remedy for stress.

  • i don’t think that blogging reduce stress but it does one thing or sure and that is keep us busy which then in turn can make your mind a bit relieved but to some extent not that much anyway nice post and keep up the good work Atish…

  • Atish – You are right to some extent here…blogging does allow me to take my mind away from any personal or professional problems and issues. It may be temporary but it does help to refocus and rebuild your thoughts.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Blogging is a form of expression. When you express yourself or communicate in any shape of form, there is a sense of relieve – whether you are doing it as a hobby or business. And this varies from one person to another. I think, the is question is how to best to deal with it.

    • Welcome to my blog Paul. Yes you are right but blogging is the best remedy for reducing stress if you are doing it as hobby. I am not sure if it can do the same if you take it as business.

      Thanks for your comment Paul.

  • Awesome 🙂

I really enjoyed reading this post. Well written bro and I am damn agree with you that BLOGGING is one of the best remedy to reduce your stress.

We do blogging by own choice. For example: If someone is interested in technology then he/she launch tech blog; that’s why, we reduce stress by doing our work of choice not by work of force.

You shared this experience, which is common for me too because i also reduce my stress of engineering studies through blogging. 🙂

Thank you for sharing with us. 🙂

Wishing you all the success ahead. 🙂

    • Thanks for sharing your views Avinash. Love to see you here come often out here. Just write what you love then it will surely work. Good to know that you are getting relieved through blogging. 🙂 🙂

      • Bro you just told we are busy with works and get stressed. Same thing occurs with me.
I’ve lots of work load including my studies so it is difficult to manage everything at appropriate time.

I visit your site regularly for information but forget to leave my comment. But from now you’ll regularly see my views on content especially written by you.

I expect, at least one content of same type from you in a week. 🙂

          • Atish, am suggesting you like Avinash to write these types of posts atleast once in a month! Sharing personal experience always creates curiosity among the people, so they love to read the entire content without fail. As am a woman blogger, i can’t share my experience like you! But i can give ideas for you to write. Can i suggest you some interesting topics to write?

  • I think, having passion about something relieve stress whether it is a hobby or a business. I think the keyword is passion. If you don’t it then it doesn’t matter.

  • Hi Atish

    Totally agree with you.

I start writing and all the present thoughts disappear. All the stress and the frustration with others goes away. Even if I am writing about them frustrating me. It is all because you can not hold two thoughts at the same time. You are thinking about the writing and therefore can’t concentrate on the stress or frustration.

If we could work wonders all the time like this, we would have a lot less stress to deal with. May be when someone is causing us a great deal of stress, we need to try really hard to concentrate on something else.

I think we all need to laugh more, it is a great healer. But I know that bosses can be a real stress maker, worked for one that was a nightmare.

    • Yea no doubt, bosses are real stress maker and blogging is really take them out. Blogging is just amazing whether as hobby or business. Its always the best. thanks for your comment Mary. keep coming.

  • Hmm…… I think it all depends. I’d say blogging can reduce stress if you really enjoy it, but it might also increase stress if it’s a business venture and includes pressure to meet deadlines etc.

I’ll admit I got a bit stressed the other week because I suddenly had an unexpected flurry of comments on my blog, which was lovely, but I couldn’t see how I was going to find the time to respond properly and visit the sites of the people who’d left comments, which I always try to do.

I think a lot of bloggers also get stressed about the pressure to keep creating tons of content.

At the times when you’re just absorbed in what you’re doing and not worrying about meeting deadlines, then I’d agree it can be a stress-busting activity – as with so many things in life, it has the potential to create or relieve stress, depending on your personal circumstances and reactions,

    • Yes Sue. I have mentioned the same a lot of time in the comment that if you are blogging as business then It might give you stress to find out new ways to make money and all. But As long as you do it as hobby it surely can reduce stress. Thanks for your comment sue.

  • Now I will admit Atish that I haven’t been stressed out in a number of years now. But I would have to agree with you here.

When I’m blogging or even commenting on other people’s posts I’m thinking about. Whatever I would have been stressed about is definitely at the very back of my mind. I think writing is a refreshing way of getting rid of all that mess.

Fabulous suggestion Atish… Enjoy your week.

    • Its good that you haven’t stressed out since so long but you are right any blogging stuff can take the stress at back foot. Thanks for your comment Adrienne. Love to see you here after a long time.

  • Many people blog and write content because it is their passion and they love to write when free. If we take up blogging as a hobby, we will surely stay relaxed. It is said that if we do something that makes us happy, we will becomes stress free. Hence, if you like to blog, it will surely reduce stress.

  • Hi,

Thanks for sharing great article about should decrease stress on your brain. This is very useful information for online marketing managers. Keep it up such a nice posting like this.

    Sekhar Reddy.

  • Hi Atish ,

I am totally agree with You Atish. Really Blogging is the greatest exercise to grownup of your mind and your knoledgable I know When it comes next turn of blog then mostly people stressed due to this reason. i also stress so please help me and solve my problem.Well thanks for sharing this article.

  • Thanks for the post. Blogging is so much fun for me when not pressed for time, but once time sensitivity sets in, blogging becomes work for me. Great views here.

  • In this hectic schedule, it is necessary to take rest. However now everyone is in a rush for earning more and more money. Blogging solves both the problem of us. It gives us physically rest as well as it is a good way of earning.

  • I think even the cognitive processes that writing a blog uses can be beneficial to be honest. Especially if you are writing something light hearted,

  • Hi Atish,

That’s a great post with different opinions. Some agree that blogging helps with the stress, others disagree and think it is adds to the stress.

From my experience so far, since I just started blogging 2 months ago only, I find it sometimes stressful if I am busy and I have to meet a deadline for my blogging schedule and other times when my post is ready and I don’t have a lot to do in the other areas of my life, I find it comforting and enjoyable. I think it all depends on the circumstances of the blogger as well.

Thanks for such a great post where it got me to relate with other bloggers.

    Be Blessed,

    • Thanks Neamat for reading the post. Yes good to know the different views from different bloggers. I never got stressed because of blogging :). Keep cming Neamat.

  • Nice post.Blogging is a great way to share your thoughts and feelings to others apart from submitting content. It may release stress because during blogging our mind is diverted somewhere else and it helps us to focus on something else.

  • There are times when blogging can help me to relax. Mainly if I’m sharing some kind of personal development techniques. When I am not relaxed and stress free is if I’m having to do backlinking and some other tedious tasks. That stuff gets super annoying.

The good thing about blogging is it allows us to forget about the every day worries for a few minutes…as long as were not blogging about those 😉

  • Not really, Blogging doesn’t reduce my stress but it tempoarily deviates my mind. I really have a good time while blogging, There are so many things to learn & little income too.

  • Blogging can be great outlet for some people. For me it causes more stress. The time to fit it in and to think of topics, the proofreading, sending it out to sites etc. Great article on this subject matter. Everyone is different. I think its great to share experience and information. For those that are passionate about writing this would reduce stress for them and for others its a chore lol.

    • You are not wrong but in my opinion if you take blogging as your hobby then it will relax you but if it is your business then as like other business there are so many deadlines, pressure of earn profits etc. So stress is obvious in any business whether it is blogging or any other.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  • Hie Atish Bhaiya,

I agree with your point that if we r feeling alone or we don’t have anyone with us to share our problem or experiences then writing is best way to express our feeling and it really helps to reduce our stress…
and as you have already said that “Blogging is really very helpful to reduce our stress” but just only if we take it as hobby. Otherwise, it leads to more stress in our life! 🙂

As Avinash n other friends already said please keep share your personal experiences we love to read and it motivates us and teaches too! 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!!
    ~ Sugandha

    • Sure I will try to write something every weekend based on some real facts or my own experiences. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  • For me, yes, blogging does reduce stress because I love to write and I cannot get tired of writing fresh content for the blog. Blogging or say article writing is a passion for some and only a source of earning income for others. I belong to the first category and thus it does reduce my tension and stress.

  • With blogging you can write anything, for instance, you can write or blog on wide variety of subjects. Favorite hobby or cause, blog about a group you belong to or travels you’ve taken or if you prefer. You can just blog about life in general. So, directly or indirectly blogging helps you to release stress and problem shared is problem solved because blogging helps discussion which helps you to give solution.

  • This is an impressive post Atish. Keep up the good writing. I don’t know if the blogging reduces stress but I can say that if you do anything as your hobby then it took out the stress from your mind.

  • It sure does Atish!

Blogging IS a stress buster, provided it’s done within limits. 🙂

There was a time long back when I was taking blogging rather seriously. It took over most of my time and being a professional writer and a Mom too, my priorities were shifting to blogging more than to my writing projects and family.

Yes, it does affect a working Mom and the other work alongside too. It then starts causing more of stress than relieving the stress. But if done for the joy of blogging, or when you want to share your thoughts, feelings, or ideas with your readers – it is a stress reliever.

I love the interaction and comments that I get at my blog and it just lightens me up and makes my day too! However, I’ve now started keeping away time for doing things that require my attention first, and then shifting to other things.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Harleena for putting up your views. blogging is really great and especially the best choice for housewives to buildup their confidence and getting relief from stress of daily life. Keep coming to my blog.

  • Hi Aatish
Its true blogging reduces stress, when you love blogging and it also gives stress when you are not passionate about your blogging, many bloggers feel stress while doing blogging because they just try to work for money not for their interest and money is the most common reason of stress.

    • Thanks for reading Nishant. Yes if you want to make money from blogging then surely it might not reduce your stress but as long as you do it as hobby its the best(-est) way to reduce stress.

  • Depends upon the blogger’s attitude.
If u dont love what you are doing, anything can cause u stress.
But if u r pursusing ur cause with passion and desire, the most boring of jobs can seem interesting and a lot of fun.
I love what I do and so, blogging is the biggest stress buster for me.

    • Same here. When I have started blogging I wasn’t aware that It can be a source of earnings but later I started earning money but still I love blogging no matter if I don’t earn even a single rupee. Hence When I do anything related to blogging or networking, helping others, taking help from others online I feel very good.

Thanks for coming and reading here.

  • So very true. I have had a lot of serious illness in the family and still on going. Blog commentating writing etc takes a lot of stress out of your day to day life

  • I am still rather unclear how blogging can be a source of earning. I guess I am still too new in the world of blogging. I am just starting by commenting on others for now. I guess I should set up a blog of my own and learn more.

  • TTW is truly a de-stress-er for me! 😎 Its just awesome! 🙂

I think that 1 of the major reason for blogging being a stress buster for me is that, I have not primarily taken blogging as the source of income. At first blogging is my hobby & then its my business! 🙂

  • I agree with you Atish bhai. Blogging is a proven stress buster… All the tension and stress I get from my college is vanished when I have a look at my blog.

  • Exactly. It helps reducing stress if this is your hobby. If its your business then like other business you might be stressed.

  • This is the first post I went through completely after one and half month break 🙂
Yes very well written and I too agree with Atish.I feel my blog or website as my asset and when ever we take a look at them then I feel quite relaxed at the first glance itself. I feel like as if my child is safe. Yes once we get a hang of it then blogging surely reduces stress as it helps to share and express our opinions and thoughts on different subjects.

  • Wow! Nice thoughts, yeah, I agree that Blogging can reduce stress. With heavy competition in business, blogging is the answer. Blog sites are the priority of search engine crawlers if you have a quality content, then you have a chance to be indexed and position your site into thier top list.

  • Blogging is stressful, you have to really think of a topic that could interest your readers. You could really feel all the pressures and the tensions. However, after you have construct and edit it you can feel the ease and the pretty feeling. Also, blogging has been the number source of income nowadays.. yeahh 😀 it’s true anyway.

Thanks for posting, i really enjoyed reading your blog.

    • I said in the comment thread a lot of time that if you take it as business then it surely give you stress as like any other business because you have to meet deadlines in a business.

  • Basically people can reduce the stress and tension, if they do things that are close to their heart. In that way as you said, blogging helps me to make me relaxed and feel confident.

  • A great article from my dear fellow blogger Atish…..

You are absolutely right Atish…… blogging works really great when it comes to relieve stress.
I enjoyed my readers comment and feedback and it help me to reduce my stress even after completing an article we feel so much energetic and full of life like we have won world Cup.

I agree with Rakesh that blogging doesn’t provide solution to problem but it help us to divert our mind from problem for some time and help us to refresh our mind and a refresh mind can find the solution more quickly and efficiently.

  • To be very Frank Blogging has not only helped me to make money but also helped me to learn a lot and become confident. Sometimes it has also helped me to reduce stress as well.

  • Bologging doesn’t reduce my stress but it deviates it, But I thorougly enjoy blogging, I learn & earn so its really fun. You have shared your personal experiences here which is quite good to understand. Good post, thanks for sharing.

  • Good article on blogging. I totally agree with you & doing same for myself. its really true that blogging reduce stress.

  • HI Athish,

This blog is makes me thinking my self how much adorable while we posting blogs and be stress free when creating blogs really use-full making money with good articles.
    Thanking you

  • I am not sure whether blogging will reduce stress but surely it will help us to divert our attention for little while and give us some relaxation because imagination is used while writing article. This power of imagination can give us a cool feeling throughout our body and help to be free.

  • nicely written !!! This post shows the author knows how to make use of blogging to reduce stress. And really, it a stress less Job if your are dedicated to it. Blogging is not only to create post and publish them, it gives the very great opportunity to bring your passion in front of the world.

  • Blogging never reduced my stress, infact it has been the reason for it LOL. But I thoroughly enjoy blogging, there is so much to do. Blogging definitely deviates our mind & we indulge into some other things, which helps to counter our stress life.

  • Nice post Atish. You are pretty right that blogging is best way to reduce the stress. But Unfortunately it happened totally opposite to me. (I might be the only exception to this). 🙂

The reasons I figured out few months ago and want to share it with newbies so they can learn from it.

Firstly the reason I started the blogging like other was MONEY. But my mistake was that I had no patient. For first 2,3 months I wrote 40, 50 posts per month and when seen no outcome so I quitted.

Secondly I totally misunderstood the concept of blogging in the earlier stages. I thought that I will write content and people will come from other plannet (:D) click on ads and I will earn money. I never thought that blogging is all about creating value for the visitors.

Third I took to many advices, some bloggers were saying do this some where saying do that. So the result was very poor.

But with time I learned the trick and now I gonna do blogging that will not create stress but will be a source of relaxation.

    Thanks for a nice post!

    Good night.

    • Good Adil, I am happy that you have realized your mistake. You need to be patient in blogging. It needs time to build loyal readers, brand visibily, Good google rankings etc. Let me know if you need any help in your blogging career. I would love to help if I can.

  • With blogging you are able to blog about almost everything, for instance wide selection of topics, favorite activity or cause, blog about a group you are part of or travels you have taken or if you want, you can easily blog about life on the whole. By doing that you’re releasing some stress and problem shared is problem solved because individuals provides you with advice on how to go about it.

  • Hi Atish!

For me I think blogging adds stress lol. I like to blog and share information with others, even tho it adds stress I overlook it because its something I like to do. Sometimes when I’m stressed out with other things I turn to my blogs as a way to divert my attention to something else. It helps ease out that other stress.

If none of that works out then I throw on some workout clothes and sweat out the stress 🙂

  • Sorry sir i’m not with you on this topic. If you are a full time or say professional blogger than blogging is stressful work.Specially it makes people lazy and dull.I self face this problem. After joining blogging i’m totally cut off from social life.No friends,no games,no gossips. It feels me very bad. 🙁

    • I said many times on the comment that its a stress buster only if you are doing it as hobby. if you will do it as business then like other business it will give you stress

  • Atish Ranjan . .. . I liked how we get discussed around the blogs positive aspects pertaining to health, You could have propagated your personal ordeals the following and that is pretty good to understand. We are delighted to understand which blogs is usually on your side to be a fix for pressure.

    Gud Luck Man

  • Hi Atish
nice article i think if you like your works then it will never stress you and i love blogging. nice and different topic to discuss. thanks for sharing.

  • Hi Atish,

Thanks for sharing this wonderful post on kingged.com & also here on your blog. You have really said it all but to be straight from my own opinion “BLOGGING DO REDUCE STRESS BUT NOT IN ALL CASES”.

The blogosphere is now competitive so most bloggers needs to work very hard and smart in order to be authority. I have seen a blogging friend who blog to the extent of losing efficiency.

I spend over 10+ hours on PC every day, here it is not a case of stress but a health issue. The case study of your friend is a great one but i don’t think it will work for everyone.

    Have a nice day

  • I agree blogging is not a stress removal method or technique. It is a hobby and study shows, hobbies are best to divert attention. So we can say blogging can be helpful to reduce stress just like the music and other techniques.

  • Wow, you have a lot of feedback on this post, Atish!

For me, blogging is not a hobby, it’s a business. Therefore, it can be stressful at times with deadlines and goals to meet.

I will say, my Art Blog is more of my creative side (selectivemomentsintime.com) and it relieves a lot of pressure and tension. I’m not trying to do anything but share there. I am setting up the sales part right now, it bit stressful, but that won’t last long. It will be exciting to get my fine art and photography up for sale!

My site you visited today, deborahtenbrink.com, that is the one that’s more stressful as I pay close attention to the needs of others and try hard to make sure to explain things clearly and simply.

As a matter of fact, I’ve never had a hobby blog before. I suppose those are just for fun, sharing simple thoughts, more like an online journal? I know some people blog just to keep family and friends updated on what is going on in their lives.

One part of blogging that’s always a pleasure for me is graphic design!

I think it all just depends on a person’s personality. We are all different so, it’s not surprising you have different points of view within your comments. That is very valuable information for you and your team. 🙂

Thank you for sharing a great post, Atish!

    • Hello Deborah,

Indeed when you blog as a business it can be stressful at times. You are right that when you write blogs just like journals, its fun and stress buster but when it turns into your business, you have pressure to make most of it, and earn some cool cash.

Even my primary source of earning is my blog(s) but still I feel blogging as a stress buster. If I am upset on some family stuff or something like that, I used to sit and try to write a blog post on my blog. I really feel relaxed when I am done with a post!

I agree with you that it depends on person’s personality as well.

Thanks for taking time to read and comment on this so old post. 🙂

  • Hi Atish,

    Thanks for share this post.
I am a new Internet Marketing Industry. But according to me Blog reduce the stress. Blog Posting is the best way to advertising the business all over the world. But I read some another blogs some author wrote Blog posting is not affect to increase the ranking your website. Please Tell me Blog Posting helps the increase website ranking or not?

    • Hello Allena,

Writing articles on consistent basis does help to increase crawl and index rate of your site in Google. It doesn’t directly affect ranking but posting regularly is the best advice one can give you.
