The growing popularity of ecommerce cannot be ignored. It is relatively new world, considering the fact that it was introduced to the world just a few years back. But, the way it has gauged onto companies and the consumers’ is quite brilliant. You just cannot think of shopping without thinking ecommerce or an e-store these days.

Availing discounts while shopping online has become quite a fashion in today’s digital age. You would see a lot of coupons available for discounts on the various products available online. Here we are going to talk on a website, Shoppal.in that specifically deals with providing coupons for the biggies in the ecommerce world. On shoppal you will find coupons for all the top brands. But, we are not going to talk on what Shoppal does, rather we will talk on the technicalities and technologies involved with Shoppal.in

What is Shoppal.in?

Shoppal.in, as has been previously described, is an exclusive coupon website. This coupon website has partnered with close to 500 merchants, all ecommerce websites, to give out amazing deals and discounts on the various products available on their websites. On exploring the website, you will find top featured coupons as well as the popular coupons that are trending on the website. You can use the store locator and search for the coupon that you require on this website. It is functionally exclusive and pretty user friendly.

Coding the Site

It is very important to understand the way the site has been built to provide the necessary functionality. One look at the source code and one would learn that the whole website has been created using PHP. The layout has been exclusively done up using PHP. JavaScript has also been used to build the website, both the static as well as the dynamic one. You can easily navigate between the various pages on this website, and this can be attributed to the excellent and exuberant use of JavaScript.

Backend of the Site

When you enter a website, you are sure looking out for an appealing and attractive website. But that is not the only thing that makes a website tick. The backend of the website is as important as the front end. You will see that when you enter into Shoppal website, the loading time taken by the website is pretty good. The speed on the website is considerably fast. You will also find that despite the tremendous load in terms of database, you are onto an easy and effective website which displays absolutely no downtime. The Apache server used by the website guarantees the speed and the amazing functionality. The backend is well supported by MySQL which should be given its due credit.

The best part of this website is the cloud hosting part. You will find cloud hosting space being provided by the Amazon AWS services to this website, which makes hosting clear and suitable.

Filters to the Website

The whole website is designed with remarkable number of filters. Each filter allows the user to search for specific coupons. For example when you click on the “your favorite coupon is here” filter you will asked to choose a category and a store within the category before the filter displays the coupons in that category. Similarly in case of “type a store or product name” filter you get to type the store or product for which you are looking out for coupons and a list will be displayed when you click on the search button.

Marketing & Conversions

An ecommerce website majorly deals with conversions. The end ROI that is considered by an e-commerce website like Myntra, Jabong, Flipkart or Yebhi.com coupons would be how many of the visitors were converted into sales. Shoppal uses technology to track down their customers as well as the number of conversions that took place in a day or week. UTM parameters and cookies are used to track down the sales that have been made using the website.

Marketing or promotions is also immensely important to get the right amount of conversions. Social media marketing or rather social sharing using the various social media websites like Facebook, Twitter etc. are performed. You would find social media websites being linked to Shoppal’s site. Apart from that SEO and SEM are major forms of e-marketing that has been adopted by Shoppal to be a part of the Google’s custom search. Shoppal has also indulged in Google adsense to ensure being a part of the paid advertisements displayed on Google search page.

Linked to WordPress

As part of their marketing strategy, Shoppal has its own blog on WordPress that they have managed to link to the website. Blogs are immensely important to the digital age marketing, and linking the blog to the website only makes it more visible and marketable.

The whole site is loaded with features which are probably why I simply loved browsing through it. When you click on any coupon, you will be taken to the dealers’ website from where you will be purchasing the product. So checkout process is pretty easy too. Overall a favorably designed website taking care of user’s needs.

  • I really wished this article had existed a few weeks back when I was making a decision between Thesis and Genesis for my site. I’ve read that Thesis blog.
thank you so much for shearing with us.

  • Hi Atish

Though I am too late to post y comment on this article but the best part of coupon website is- this type of website if promoted properly generate a lots of revenue but very hard to rank on the search engine. AND on top of that we do not have any such script that automatically update the latest coupon code from the selected website thus make this type of website very hard to maintain.

    • You are right Rakesh bro. Its tough to maintain but where there is money, people try to work hard.

      Thanks for coming by.
