This indeed is a very interesting post. You are right in saying that Fabook and SEO promotion combined can yield to tremendous increase in traffic, conversions and therefore, in revenues.
I had trouble with organic search traffic on my website a few months ago because I decided to change the keywords I wanted to rank on and that got my Google traffic almost wiped out for a while. But guess what, I focused on Twitter and Facebook heavily and I was able to keep up with the traffic in a much controlled way since then.
Google search results have started to catch up now, but I am extremely happy with the traffic I am able to garner through social networking.

Facebook is really powerful because it can get you fast traffic.
However, I believe you still need to do SEO because it is more powerful than facebook traffic. Yes it’s harder to do but if you succeed in it, you will get gain a lot. Also, search traffic is more targeted and are most likely to convert.
But doing both is really good to do IMO
Of course SEO is important, but the development of search engine algorithms is the fact that soon SEO as such does not exist, except that only the internal optimization of the site.
