I keep facing this problem of data storing as I have a huge amount of data to be stored due to my line of profession. It is difficult to take backups too at times. You have given a comprehensive solution this problem but I am a little apprehensive about this online data storage service. My concern is about the security of our data files. I hope it is taken care of. Will research more on this before going for one such service.

Dropbox is my favorite but I have started using Google drive as Google products are the best. You have missed the Google Drive here.
I’m surprised there’s no mention of any Amazon storage products — especially with the release of Glacier. We use S3 in our business, although the backup software can be cumbersome (depending on your vendor, there are lots of options of course. Try DragonDisk) once you’ve got stuff in there it gives you plenty of options for sharing data! S3 bucket policies let you share data privately or publicly, you can CNAME your bucket and serve data as if it’s coming from a subdomain of your site (do this all the time), you can even hook it up to cloudfront and serve/stream data from edge location. If long term super inexpensive storage is your game try Glacier. We’re just waiting for a migration tool to move all our archival backups over from S3.
